The Aqua constellation is a group of five satellites that fly in loose formation to allow investigations of the Earth system by synergistically combining data from multiple platforms. The Aqua satellite was launched in May 2002. The Aura satellite was launched in July 2004; the PARASOL satellite was launched in December 2004; and the CALIPSO and CloudSat satellites were launched in April 2006.
